TEMPTATION39But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. 40And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also. 41And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain. 42Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away. 43Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matt. V We should not resist evil but we should resist inner temptation. Since the fall of Man, human beings are in the intermediate world where there is Truth and falsehood as well as Good and evil. Man is born into the consciousness of ego, which is characterized by self-love, self- intelligence and self-righteousness. All the negative and destructive thoughts that roam in our mind and the egotistical desires that roam in our heart [will] originate from the worlds of spiritual darkness. On the other hand, all the holy, beautiful, useful ideas, all the selfless, creative and meaningful intentions are generated by the Divine Love and Wisdom of the higher spiritual worlds or Heaven. As human beings, we have the free choice to either follow our lower egotistical instincts or be inspired by our higher spiritual principles and follow our loving intuition. We can believe what is True or justify our perverted and egotistical desires by means of our false beliefs or lies. Temptation is in fact the way by which we can rise into higher levels or states of consciousness. Every time we are tempted to follow our lower instincts and we resist by reverting to a higher spiritual principle, we rise into higher states of consciousness. Most people falsely believe that to be free is to be a rebel, to do everything you desire and to ignore the law. In fact, to follow our unconscious instincts and egotistical desires is to be a slave of darkness. Inwardly, we are in an egotistical prison where we have no inner power to do anything. We simply become the instrument of darkness and destruction. And we have no power over those who are in spiritual light. We can only affect those who are in the same fearful darkness that we are. In Truth, the only way to become free is to obey spiritual Law. When we are in Heavenly Righteousness, we are free to express our useful and creative intentions and the power of the whole universe will help us realize them effortlessly. But our own individual will must be in harmony with Divine Will or Love. 6But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. 7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. 8Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. 9After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread. 12And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. 14For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: 15But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.Matt VI
