FALSE IDENTITY
Our true identity is I AM AWARENESS, which is beyond name, form, thoughts, feelings and beliefs. But our false identity is who we THINK or BELIEVE we are. This false identity consists of name, form, thought, feeling and belief. It is simply the result of past human evolution and personal history. And yet, since it is who we think we are, we are continually defending it as if it were who we really are. But, if it were not false, would we need to defend it continually? The reason we need to defend it is because deep down we know that it is false and has no real substance. We think if this false identity crumbles, we will disappear into nothingness. This is why we are full of fear and worry. Fear is the unwillingness to surrender to the Reality of I AM AWARENESS. I AM AWARENESS needs no defense because it is true BEING; it is indestructible and immortal. Our false identity is a program of beliefs in the unconscious. In fact, since consciousness creates our reality, our life circumstances are continually displaying our beliefs. We continually meet persons who seem to annoy us. And we experience circumstances that seem displeasing. These people and circumstances are in fact reflections of our beliefs or who we think we are. Our natural reaction is to blame these people and circumstances. If we do, we will never change and we will remain in the prison of our false beliefs. We should instead take full responsibility for the circumstances and people we encounter and begin to change our beliefs and attitudes through repentance, forgiveness, compassion and gratitude. Our false identity is ignorant and self-righteous; it can never admit it is wrong. Instead of becoming conscious of our weaknesses, we project them onto others. This is how the false identity remains in the darkness of denial, ignorance and selfishness. It judges and condemns others and never forgives. It is merciless and has no compassion for others. And it is proud, arrogant and ungrateful. But, whether we admit it or not, the world that we experience is our own reflection and our circumstances are showing us the state of consciousness that we are wearing. The faults and qualities we see in others are really within us. When we condemn and attack others, we are simply condemning and attacking our own self. We must stop justifying and defending our false identity. And we must stop attacking others and the world. Our true identity has no need to defend or attack because it is omnipotent and has no enemies. Repentance, forgiveness, compassion, gratitude and surrender are the means by which we dissolve the false identity and return to the Peace and Love of I AM AWARENESS. We must understand that our false identity can do nothing of its own, it is powerless. All the glory and power belongs to the Father [I AM Awareness]. " The Son can do nothing of Himself "(John v. 19).
